Lunar X

The Lunar X is an area where several crater rims are illuminated once monthly around the first quarter moon for just a few hours to show the X figure seen in this photo.

This image was captured at the 2nd annual New England Fall Astronomy Festival (NEFAF) with the public watching the live video feed on my laptop. The telescope is my Celestron C9.25 @ f/10 and the camera is the Imaging Source DMK 31AU03.AS monochrome USB camera. The mount used was my Losmandy G11 Gemini.

Time of the capture was 19:40 EDT on 9/22/2012.
