Welcome!
My name is Gardner Gerry. I live and work in southern New Hampshire and I am a member of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society (NHAS).
In late summer of 2004 I began to start taking widefield astrophotos. For the first two years I was shooting film using my 35mm Nikons and prime lenses piggybacked on my refractor mounted on a german equatorial mount. Now I have moved into prime focus astrophotography. I still consider what I am doing widefield, as the SV80S at f/4.8 yeilds a frame 2° x 3° with the Canon 350D DSLR I now use.
I image primarily from YFOS, the dark sky observing site of NHAS.
Special thanks to the folks in the NHAS photo commitee and the film astrophotography forum and the DSLR and digital camera imaging and processing forum of Cloudynights.com for kind advice and encouragement.
Update: I have modified the 350D to be a dedicated astro camera by removing the stock Canon UV/IR filter and replacing it with a Baader UV/IR filter with a wider spectral response to enable me to record the Hydrogen alpha wavelength so prominent in many of the nebulae in our night skies. I look forward to revisiting old targets and shooting many new targets previously unavailable to me.
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoy capturing and processing them.
